Aaron Rupar

Rupar is an independent liberal journalist best known for posting real-time video clips of Trump, White House briefings, and right-wing media on X, paired with critical framing aimed at a largely progressive audience. After roughly three years at Vox chronicling Trumpism, he went independent in 2021 and now publishes the Public Notice newsletter on Substack, which describes itself as "fair, but not impartial" — openly pro-democracy in orientation and critical of both the American right and mainstream outlets it sees as equivocating. He is a media critic and chronicler rather than a policy ideologue; his lean shows in what he selects and how he frames it (his coverage is consistently adversarial toward Trump and the GOP) more than in advocacy for a specific left faction.
