Kinzinger is a former Republican congressman from Illinois (2011-2023) who has become one of the most prominent never-Trump voices in political media, hosting a large YouTube commentary channel and Substack. He was one of two Republicans on the House January 6 committee, endorsed Kamala Harris in a speech at the 2024 Democratic National Convention, and said in a late-2024 interview that he is "probably closer to a Democrat now," citing foreign policy and support for Ukraine. In June 2026 he launched Back the Bold PAC, which explicitly backs Democrats against Trump-aligned Republicans. He still identifies with a hawkish, internationalist conservatism, but his current political activity is almost entirely on the Democratic side of the ledger.
