David Hogg is a progressive activist who entered politics as a gun-control organizer after surviving the 2018 Parkland shooting, and now works inside Democratic politics as a champion of generational change. He co-founded the PAC Leaders We Deserve in 2023 to elect young progressives, and was elected a DNC vice chair in February 2025. He left that post in June 2025 after DNC members voted to redo the vice chair election, a fight that erupted after his PAC announced a $20 million plan to primary older House Democrats in safe blue seats — a plan he defended and party officials called incompatible with DNC neutrality. Through the 2026 cycle Leaders We Deserve has kept endorsing young progressive primary challengers (for example Claire Valdez in New York), though some endorsed campaigns have publicly complained about promised funding not materializing. His positioning is squarely progressive-left but his fights are chiefly intra-Democratic, aimed at the party's older establishment.
