Hasan Piker, known online as HasanAbi, is an American Twitch streamer and left-wing political commentator. He began streaming on Twitch in March 2018 while working at The Young Turks (TYT), then left TYT in January 2020 to focus on streaming. Known for his off-the-cuff, debate-heavy style and coverage of current events, he is considered one of the most prominent voices on the American left.

Is Hasan Piker left or right?
Hasan Piker (HasanAbi) is an openly socialist commentator — well to the left of the Democratic Party mainstream — who built the largest political stream on Twitch after leaving The Young Turks in January 2020. He is sharply critical of US foreign policy and of both parties' establishments, and in May 2025 he said Customs and Border Protection detained and questioned him at O'Hare about his political views. In 2025-26 he moved from commentary into direct electoral activism: he campaigned for candidates endorsed by the New York Democratic Socialists of America, backed House candidates Claire Valdez and Darializa Avila Chevalier — both of whom won their June 2026 primaries against Democratic establishment opponents — and is widely described as a key ally of NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani. He has said he plans to spend 2026 traveling the country to interview and promote young socialist candidates.
