Joyce Vance is an American lawyer who served as the United States attorney for the Northern District of Alabama from 2009 to 2017, one of the first five and the first female U.S. attorney nominated by President Barack Obama. She is now a distinguished professor of the practice of law at the University of Alabama School of Law, and a legal analyst for MSNBC who also co-hosts the podcasts #SistersInLaw and Cafe Insider. She writes the Substack newsletter Civil Discourse, focused on legal analysis and democracy.
