Common questions

Is Larry Elder left or right?
Elder is a small-government, libertarian-leaning conservative in the traditional talk-radio mold — anti-tax, tough-on-crime, and sharply critical of what he calls victimhood narratives about race, a stance tied to his own upbringing in South Central Los Angeles (he brands himself the 'Sage from South Central'). He was the leading Republican candidate in California's 2021 recall election against Gov. Gavin Newsom, then ran briefly for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination before dropping out and backing Donald Trump. In August 2024 he returned to the Salem Radio Network, where The Larry Elder Show airs nationally from flagship AM 870 in Los Angeles, and in 2025-26 he remains an active syndicated host with a fifth Radio Hall of Fame nomination. His positioning has been stable for decades: mainstream movement conservatism delivered through talk radio rather than the newer online-right ecosystem.
