Klavan is an intellectual of the traditionalist, Claremont-school right: an Oxford-trained classicist (PhD) who is an editor at the Claremont Review of Books, the flagship journal of the Claremont Institute, and a listed presenter at the 2025 National Conservatism Conference in Washington. Rather than daily partisan combat, his work makes a cultural-conservative case for the Western canon — his podcast Young Heretics reads great books of Western literature through the lens of "truth and beauty," and his books "How to Save the West" (2023) and "Light of the Mind, Light of the World" (2024) argue for recovering classical and Christian wisdom against what he sees as ideological capture of academia. He is the son of Daily Wire host Andrew Klavan and writes from an explicitly Christian perspective.
